Christopher North, founding keyboardist of Ambrosia, has passed away at 75, leaving a lasting mark on progressive and soft rock.

The band shared the news in a heartfelt tribute, calling him the “Hammond B3 King” and honoring his distinctive sound and creative influence. His work helped define the band’s identity and broader musical era.

As a founding member alongside David Pack, Joe Puerta, and Burleigh Drummond, North played a central role in shaping their signature style.

Bandmates remembered his powerful stage presence and passion. Early memories included discovering him deeply immersed in music, a moment that marked the beginning of his career.

No official cause of death was announced, though he had faced health challenges, including throat cancer. Despite this, his dedication to music remained strong.

North contributed to some of the band’s most recognizable songs, including Biggest Part of Me, How Much I Feel, and Holdin’ on to Yesterday.
