Sandra Lee Opens Up About Health Scare and Returning to Work After Recovery

Dermatologist and television personality Sandra Lee, widely known for her hit series Dr. Pimple Popper, recently revealed a serious health scare after suffering a stroke while filming on set. The 55-year-old doctor opened up about the experience in a candid interview, describing how the incident began with subtle symptoms that initially felt like routine exhaustion.

While working on set for her Lifetime spin-off Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out, Lee noticed unusual changes in her body, including sudden sweating, weakness, and difficulty speaking. She initially thought it might be a hot flash, but her condition quickly worsened. After filming, she experienced more alarming symptoms, including trouble walking and weakness on one side of her body, which led her to seek medical attention.

At the hospital, scans confirmed that she had suffered an ischemic stroke, meaning blood flow to part of her brain had been interrupted. Lee later explained that a portion of her brain was affected, leading to temporary physical and neurological challenges. She took a break from filming to focus on recovery and underwent physical therapy to regain strength and coordination, especially in her left hand.

Following her recovery period, Lee returned to work while continuing to manage lingering effects and emotional challenges connected to the experience. She has since spoken publicly about her health scare, aiming to raise awareness about stroke symptoms and encourage others to seek immediate medical help. Her message emphasizes that early recognition can be critical, and she hopes her story helps reduce stigma and promotes better understanding of stroke recovery.
