Internet praises man for 360lb weight loss

Physically, the world had shrunk. Even the most basic movements left him gasping for air, rendering traditional exercise an impossibility.

The Breaking Point: Saving Himself

The catalyst for change arrived wrapped in heartbreak. As a seven-year relationship began to crumble, Prochaska was forced to look in the mirror and confront the man he had become.

“I knew she had lost respect for me because I was just a really big person and didn’t do anything, and I wasn’t going anywhere in life where I needed to go,” he explained. While he initially embarked on his fitness journey to salvage the romance, the outcome was different than he expected. “I didn’t save the relationship, but I saved myself.”

His odyssey began not in a high-intensity gym, but on the sidewalk. At first, he could only manage to walk a few blocks before his body protested. But he made a non-negotiable pact with himself: just keep moving. Those halting, painful first steps gradually lengthened. Soon, the blocks turned into miles, and the miles turned into a daily mandate.

Today, Prochaska is an evangelist for accountability. Whether facing blistering Florida heat or torrential rain, he refuses to back down. “I hold myself accountable! It’s the only way to take control of your life,” he recently tweeted. His daily goal is a strict minimum of 10,000 steps—no excuses allowed.

Walking, however, was only half the battle. Prochaska executed a total scorched-earth overhaul of his kitchen. He eliminated the sweets, the processed snacks, and the chips that had been his constant companions. Sugary sodas were replaced by water, and he began the meticulous process of counting calories. Transitioning to a high-protein, nutrient-dense diet, he moved from simply losing fat to fueling the muscle mass he was building during increasingly intense gym sessions.

“It was just me making up my mind that this is it, it’s going to be a life change,” he said. “I feel so great.”

The ‘Trapped’ Reality: The Battle with Excess Skin

By 2023, the scale told a miraculous story: Prochaska had lost approximately 360 pounds. Yet, the victory was bittersweet. While the fat was gone, the physical evidence of his former life remained in the form of massive amounts of redundant, sagging skin.

“Three to One. I once weighed as much as 3 men and now, I am one person,” he wrote in a vulnerable post. Sharing a shirtless photo—a move he described as “very hard”—he revealed the hidden cost of massive weight loss. “I know it is hard for some of you to look at.”

Despite reaching his target weight, Prochaska described a sense of lingering imprisonment. “My weight goal has been reached but my life is not complete, and it will not be complete until I can get rid of this excess skin. I must tuck extra skin in my pants and still wear loose clothing to conceal the flab… I have never walked on a beach without a shirt on and always avoided pool parties. I’m still trapped.”

The financial hurdle for the necessary reconstructive surgeries is steep. Prochaska turned to the public, launching a GoFundMe campaign to support the specialized skin-removal procedures he requires. The response has been overwhelming; to date, donors have contributed over $81,000 toward his $100,000 goal.

An ‘Absolutely Inspiring’ Transformation

The internet has rallied behind Prochaska, with his social media feeds becoming a hub for those seeking their own lifestyle “reboots.”

“Absolutely inspiring! Good luck on your journey and thank you for this kind of inspiration,” one donor wrote. Another added, “I admire the impressive amount of dedication and sheer perseverance that you employed to get you to this place and then to keep going.”

Even those focusing on the physical relief of the surgery weighed in: “Your knees will love you even more if you lose [the skin], so I hope this little bit helps you meet your goal!”

The Road to California

In a recent milestone, Prochaska boarded a plane for the first time in his life, flying to California to consult with a premier plastic surgeon. The visit marked a shift from the “grind” of weight loss to the logistics of reconstruction. He expressed hope that the first of several surgeries could take place within three to six months.

Crucially, Prochaska remains an advocate for the “natural” route. In an era dominated by weight-loss medications, he remains proud of his sweat-equity approach. “Sure, Ozempic might work, same with gastric bypass or any other surgeries (no hate),” he shared on X in July 2024. “I can guarantee that you won’t be as healthy and happy as when you just put your head down and grind.”

From the streets of California, while filming a video for his followers during a stroll, his message remained unchanged: “Keep going, keep walking… You can do it. I’m living proof. Let’s go.”
