Jesse Jackson’s son slams Obama and Biden for using father’s funeral to ‘take shots at Trump’

The room was meant to be sacred. Instead, Jesse Jackson’s son says it became political. What was planned as a solemn tribute to a civil rights icon quickly turned into a moment of controversy that left Jesse Jackson Jr. deeply troubled.

The memorial service honored the life and legacy of Jesse Jackson, a leader who spent decades confronting political power and advocating for marginalized communities. Many expected the ceremony to focus solely on his impact on civil rights and social justice.

During the service, speeches were delivered by former presidents and political leaders, including Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Their remarks warned about threats to democracy and criticized the values of the current administration.

While many in the audience applauded the speeches, Jesse Jackson Jr. heard something very different. To him, the memorial felt less like a tribute and more like a political stage.

He later expressed that the moment overshadowed what the day was supposed to represent. In his view, the service shifted from honoring his father’s lifelong mission to advancing a broader political message.

The following day, in private remarks, Jackson Jr. drew a sharp distinction between his father’s “prophetic voice” and the partisan tone he believed dominated parts of the memorial.

He argued that Jesse Jackson maintained a complex and often tense relationship with presidents from both parties. According to his son, the civil rights leader never aligned fully with political power and never abandoned the cause of “the least of these.”

For Jackson Jr., the memorial became a reminder that even after his father’s death, the struggle over his legacy continues. The debate now centers on who truly represents Jesse Jackson’s message — the people he fought for, or the powerful voices who speak in his name.
