I\u2019m Jenny, and I\u2019ve been with her son for three years. From the very beginning, she acted like I was temporary. At first, she called me by his ex\u2019s name. I corrected her politely each time, smiling through it, but she would just laugh it off as a \u201cmistake.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then it got worse. She stopped using the ex\u2019s name and started calling me \u201cJanet.\u201d No explanation, no reason\u2014just Janet. I genuinely don\u2019t know where it came from, but it became her default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it was time for dinner, I brought out the turkey she had been so excited about. It looked perfect on the outside\u2014golden, roasted, and picture-worthy. But when it was carved, the reaction changed instantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
