But Mom refused to let him hide. \u201cDad, I found the box. I know about your therapist,\u201d she said. He fell silent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a long pause, tears filled his eyes. \u201cI didn\u2019t want you to know,\u201d he admitted. \u201cI didn\u2019t want you to worry. I didn\u2019t want you to see me as weak.\u201d Mom reached for his hand and replied, \u201cYou\u2019re not weak. He still has difficult days because depression does not disappear overnight, but he is no longer carrying his pain alone. His experience showed us that mental illness can remain hidden behind ordinary routines and smiles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most importantly, it taught our family that asking for help is not weakness. Mental illness is a medical condition, not a personal failure. We need to talk openly, listen without judgment, and remind those who are struggling that they do not have to fight alone.
